Most cosmetologists in the country operate from home offices. The in-home salon, or “beauty parlor,” is typically located in a den or spare bedroom of the cosmetologist’s home although some of the finest beauty shops occupy an addition to a home or garage. Tanning beds and electrolysis equipment are NOT available in every location.
Should you choose to seek the services of a country cosmetologist it is recommended that you make an appointment well in advance. If for some reason you do not have an appointment you may need to “holler” a bit to get the cosmetologist’s attention. If she does not respond you should not expect to wait long before she returns home. Be comfortable around the cosmetologist’s pets and children; they are well conditioned to visitors. Finally, you are not expected to tip the cosmetologist but rather to provide her with a Christmas gift of lotions and candles.
